First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Courses
Our First Response Emergency Care (FREC) Course provide learners with the confidence and knowledge to deal with a vast range of pre-hospital emergencies. As a part of it, you will learn skills such as: Traumatic Injuries, airway management and catastophic bleeding.
The qualification meets the requirements for anyone looking for a career in the event medical sector. Furthermore it is suitable as an enhanced alternative to the HSE First Aid at Work qualification in higher risk working environments. Additionally, our courses are approved by Qualsafe Awards and runs over 5 days, this can be over successive days or in blocks. The entry Level 3 Certificate meets the FPHC criteria for descriptor ‘D’ provider on the PHEM Skills Framework.
Included in the course:
- Responding to life threatening medical conditions
- Adult, Child and Infant Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
- Emergency oxygen administration including use of Bag Valve Mask (BVM)
- Internal and external bleeding
- Airway management including OPA, NPA and suction
- Traumatic injuries and catastrophic bleeding
- Hypovolaemic shock
- Poisoning and intoxicating substances
- Assessment and treatment of burns and scalds
- Circulatory and respiratory systems
- Burns and scalds
- Neck, spine and pelvic immobilisation
- Helmet removal
- Environmental exposure
- Patient assessments
- Incident reporting
